Noida-based Sheroes has acquired a competing platform Gharkamai.com. The latter is an online portal that helps professional home-based women in finding work. The acquisition comes shortly after Sheroes announced its purchase of online counselling platform LoveDoctor. It had recently raised Rs 12 crore in Series A in August 2016. Delhi-based Gharkamai was founded in April 2008 by Maneesha Sarin & Kachina Chawla. Read More

Office Supplies eStore Zoffio Sold to Shenzhen-Based Firm

Online stationary portal Zoffio, which was founded by hospitality chain Zuri Group scions, has been sold off to a Chinese firm. The terms of the deal, and the name of the buyer, hasn’t been disclosed. The office supplies startup had halted its operations earlier this year in April, when it also had let go of its 200 employees. It was founded by in 2013 by cousins Abhishek Kamani and Bobby Kamani. The Shenzhen-based firm is planning to enter India in 2017 with a similar business model. Read More

Capillary Buys eCommerce Tech Firm Sellerworx

Bangalore-based enterprise technology firm Capillary Technologies has bought Bangalore based startup Sellerworx. The financial details of the deal haven’t been disclosed. Capillary will integrate its technology into its omni channel product portfolio. Sellerworx is an omni-channel engagement and commerce platform for retailers and brands. It was founded in February 2014 by Ganesamurthi Ganapathi and Venkata Srinivasa Murali Potluri. Read More

Edtech Startup Perceptron Gets Acquired By NIIT

Bangalore-based EdTech startup Perceptron Learning Solutions has been acquired by BSE-listed tech education and training firm NIIT. The move will help NIIT strengthen its digital offerings. Perceptron was founded in December 2014 by Satish Sukumar and Sheikh Ferozuddin. It offers online courses on technical training through its eLearning platform ‘Ilimi’. Read More

Samsung is Buying AI Assistant ‘Viv’ Made by Siri Creators

In order to make its devices more intuitive for its users, Samsung has agreed to acquire San Jose-based AI startup – Viv. The AI-powered assistant hasn’t been launched yet, however it might yet become a powerful competitor to Siri and Google Assistant, since it has been made by Siri’s makers – Dag Kittlaus, Adam Cheyer and Chris Brigham. The trio had founded Siri in 2007, and had sold it off to Apple in 2010. They left the tech firm and founded Viv in 2012. Read More
