Quikr Buys Car Service Booking Platform Stepni

Quikr has acquired Bangalore-based car service booking platform Stepni. The financial details of the deal are undisclosed, however the startup would be merged under QuikrCars. QuikrCars is an automobile classifieds which was launched in April 2015, and by integrating Stepni’s services, it will be able to offer post-purchase services as well.

Stepni was founded by Vinay Singh and Nikhil Nair in October 2015. At present it’s operational only in Bangalore, with over 125 service centres on its platform. Read More

Intel to Acquire Computer Vision Startup Movidius

Intel is acquiring computer vision chip-maker Movidius. The financial details of the deal are undisclosed. Computer vision is the field of technology that allows machines to process visual information through the usage of neural networks.

The startup was founded in 2006 by Remi El-Ouazzane, David Moloney and Sean Mitchell. Silicon Valley and Ireland-based Movidius builds ultra-low power vision chip designs that can push Intel’s hardware business into drones, augmented reality, virtual reality and robotics. Read More

Bangalore-based healthcare app startup, Grow Fit, has acquired nutritional beverage platform – Drink King. The deal was made in cash and stock, the details are undisclosed. The mobile only startup will now expand its services to include sale of healthy food and beverages.

Grow Fit was founded by Jyotsna Pattabiraman in February 2016. It uses a mix of AI with personal nutritionists to allow users to create their custom diet plans.

Drink King was founded in 2015 by Ritvik Sharma and Arpit Goya. It sold proprietary health beverages on its own web and mobile platforms. Read More

Realty portal PropTiger has acquired Mumbai-based real estate data analytics startup – PropRates. The startup team will continue to research and develop their data analysis capabilities, and PropTiger will start offering real time real estate price information on its portal.

Microsoft has acquired machine-learning based time scheduling app startup – Genee. The financial details of the deal are undisclosed, and the app services have been shut down. The technology would be integrated with Microsofts’s Office 365 suite of products.
