Enterprise Cloud Company Nutanix Acquires PernixData & Calm.io

Cloud computing firm Nutanix has acquired California-based PernixData and Bengaluru-based Calm.io as it prepares itself for an IPO. The financial details of either of the deals haven’t been disclosed. Nutanix combines server, storage, and data processing technologies into a single unit of data center.

PernixData was founded in February 2012 by Poojan Kumar and Satyam Vaghani, and has raised $62 million till date. It works on technology to increase the efficiencies of storage devices.

Calm.io was founded in February 2014 by Aaditya Sood, and was acquired by Nutanix 9 months ago. It had built an online software to automate software deployment. Read More

On-Demand Home Services Startup SBricks Acquires HomeCues for Over $1M

Hyderabad-based on demand professional home services startup Sbricks has acquired its competing firm HomeCues in a deal worth over $1 million. The two firms will continue to operate independently post merger, with Sbricks focussing on B2B services and the latter focussing on B2C services.

HomeCues was founded in January 2015 by Sannareddy Aparna Reddy and Chennuru Rakesh. Whereas SBricks was founded in 2015 by Nithin Reddy, and had acquired facilities management firm Melway in December 2015. The company is scouting for more firms in related spaces for acquisition. Read More

Rackspace Acquired by Apollo Global Management for $4.5B

NYSE-listed cloud infrastructure firm Rackspace is going private through an acquisition by Private Equity firm Apollo Global Management. The $4.5 billion deal has priced its shares at $32 per piece.

Online classifieds portal Quikr has acquired on-demand beauty and wellness services provider Zapluk for an undisclosed amount. Zapluk’s team of stylists would be joining Quikr owned beauty services brand AtHomeDiva (Earlier Salosa).

Zapluk was founded in November 2015 by Manan Maheshwari and Mahesh Gogineni. It had acquired Chennai-based Pamperazi in June 2016. Lavanya Hariharan, Co-founder of Pamperazi, would also be joining AtHomeDiva. Read More

CureFit Buys Majority Stake in Fitness Centre Cult

Healthcare and fitness startup CureFit, which was founded by Myntra founders Mukesh Bansal & Ankit Nagori, has acquired fitness centre operator Cult’ for $3 million. The reason behind the acquisition is the company’s vision to provide omni-channel solutions to its users.

Curefit has a team of 12 members, and had raised $15 million in Series A from Kalaari Capital in July 2015. Read More

US-Based FullContact Acquires Kerala-Based Profoundis Labs

Denver-based contact management software firm, FullContact, has acquired Kerala-based Profoundis Labs for an undisclosed amount. Profoundis had launched its flagship product Vibe, a people search tool, in 2014.

Profoundis was founded in 2012 by Arjun R. Pillai, Jofin Joseph, Anoop Thomas Mathew and Nithin Sam. It was incubated in Kerala startup village and was also selected by Microsoft Ventures Accelerator programme. Read More
