Farhan Akhtar Backed Flickbay Raises $890K in Seed Round

Film discovery app Flickbay has raised $890,000 in a seed investment round from Paul Roy, Chairman, Riva Digital. The company was incubated under Excel Entertainment, a movie production house run by Bollywood film producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

Founded in 2015 by Trishant Sidhwani and Vishal Ramchandani, the company provides reviews, ratings etc. for Bollywood movies. The app was launched a couple of weeks back, and Google Playstore statistics show that it has been downloaded over 50,000 times. Xcode Life Sciences Raises Investment from RoundGlass Partners

Chennai-based Xcode Life Sciences has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from RoundGlass Partners. The company had previously raised Rs. 1 crore & $250,000, in 2013 & 2012 respectively.

The bioinformatics company was founded in 2010 by Naru Narayanan and Saleem Mohammed. The firm operates on a model where it offers offline testing services to customers. They can further avail additional features like cloud storage of results, custom fitness plans, health tips etc. Read More

ExtraCarbon Set to Raise $225K Led By Brand Capital

Gurgaon-based rewards for waste exchange platform ExtraCarbon is raising $225,000 in a round led by BCCL’s Brand Capital, with participation from an undisclosed venture fund & an HNI. Brand Capital allots ad inventory on BCCL’s properties against equity. It had earlier raised Rs. 2 crore from Jaarvis accelerator and two angels.

ExtraCarbon was founded in 2013 by Gaurav Joshi and Anant Avinash. The company allows users to sell recyclable waste, old & junk items on its platform, against cash or reward points. The company claims to have generated Rs 1.71 crore in revenue in FY15-16. Read More
