Every day our technologies become more powerful and more affordable, and the world has changed drastically as a result. The UN recently reported, for example, that far more people have access to cell phones than toilets in India. This massive adoption of digital technologies makes it easier than ever to start a business. We recently expanded our platform,, into 38 countries, so we decided to research what it means to be an entrepreneur in different parts of the world.

Although an innate entrepreneurial spirit seems to tie the world together, it’s interesting to note that the experience of entrepreneurs seems to vary drastically from country to country. After pouring over hundreds of pages of reports, we realized that it’s far easier in some countries to start a business, or be a female founder. The status of entrepreneurship and the fear of failure also varies by culture. We synthesized some of our favourite stats into the infographic below, but these are just the tip of the iceberg.
