Gurgaon: Horntell, unified platform, has raised $150,000 in angel round led by the CEO of 91mobiles.com, Bharanidharan Viswanathan. The round also saw participation from Sanjiv Mital (CEO at NISG), Shobhit Shukla (Chief Revenue Officer at Near.in) and Rahul Agarwal (VP of Finance at Near).
This Gurgaon-based startup is valued at $2 million at the moment. Founded by Mohit Mamoria in March 2015, the app acts as an unified platform that allows users to use any app/website through one single feed containing small actionable notifications.
Nandan Nilekani Makes His Biggest Investment So Far in an Automotive Startup
Mumbai: Sedemac Mechatronics, automotive products company, has raised $7.5 million in a round led by Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys. The round also saw participation from existing investor Nexus Venture Partners.
This Mumbai-based startup builds control for small engines and power trains. Founded by mechanical engineering professor Shashikanth Suryanarayanan with fellow IITians — Pushkaraj Panse, Amit Dixit and Manish Sharma, the startup claims to have clients like Tata Motors, Mahindra Group, Ashok Leyland and TVS Motors.
Fish & Meat Retailer Freshtohome Secures Funds From Zynga’s Co-Founder Mark Pincus
Bangalore: Freshtohome, fish and meat retailer, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in a round led by Zynga’s co-founder Mark Pincus. The round also saw participation from Walter Kortschak, founder of early-stage VC fund Kortschak Investments, Peter Briger, co-chairman of New York-based investment management firm Fortress Investment Group, Timothy Flaherty , co-founder of Silver Creek Capital Management, former Zynga CTO Cadir Lee, Google India MD Rajan Anandan, former Zynga Studios president Alex Garden and former Softbank US director Pavan Ongole.
Moreover, Zynga’s new CEO Frank Gibeau, who has 20 years with Electronic Arts (EA) in his portfolio, wants to target specific gaming sectors in the country. Zynga has had some success with games like Mafia Wars, Farmville and Texas Hold’em Poker.
Online Wedding Planner Provider Loverly Raises Additional $2M in Series A
New York: Loverly (lover.ly), wedding planner provider platform, has raised additional $2 million to its previous $3.5 million (raised in 2014). This new round of funding included some big names like Hunt Technology Ventures, LP with participation from Montage Ventures, GrowthX, Transmedia Capital, 645 Ventures, Great Oaks Capital and Female Founders Fund.
Founded by Kelle Khalil in 2012, this New York based startup is a wedding inspiration and e-commerce engine that allows brides, grooms, and enthusiasts to discover wedding ideas, receive tips, purchase wedding products, evaluate who to hire for their weddings, and share their findings.
