Ed-tech startup BYJU Raises $75M From Sequoia India and Sofina
Ed-tech startup, BYJU (creator of the K12 learning app), has raised $75 million in a round from Sequoia India and Sofina. Founded by Byju Raveendran in 2011, Byju’s offers learning programs for Class 6-12 & Test prep (JEE, AIPMT, CAT, IAS, GRE & GMAT). It launched BYJU’s – The learning app in 2015, which has seen over 2.5 million downloads in a short span of time. The company aims to utilize the raised funds to expand it’s product pipeline, launch into new markets and increase it’s staffs’ strength.
Room on Call Secures $2M in a Round Led by on-vehicle and CashUrDrive
Room on Call, accommodation marketplace, has raised $2 million in a round led by on-vehicle advertising agency and CashUrDrive (CUD). Founded in 2015 by Pradeep Sajjan, Amit Goel and Nirupma Dhawan, this Gurgaon based startup lets users book rooms. It allows business and leisure travellers to book a budget room online or through direct booking in the absence of Internet connection.
Online Lifestyle Media Portal CityShor Raises Funds From GAIN
CityShor, online lifestyle media portal, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in angel round from GAIN (Vadodara based Angel Network). Founded by Pallav Parikh and Pankaj Pathak, the startup is promoting the lifestyle segment. The startup offers what’s best in Ahmedabad in food, fashion, travel, events, home decor and entertainment; the unusual, and unheard stuff of Ahmedabad.
