Online Budget Salon Aggregator GlamStudios Gets Seed Funding

Delhi-based online aggregator of budget salons, GlamStudios has raised seed funding from former Rategain COO Aqeel Ahmed, for reaching out to around 5,000 customers and to create a network of 40 salons within two months. The startup is also planning to launch its mobile app.

Founded in 2015 by Sadiya Naseem (CEO), an ex-member of OYO Rooms leadership team, NIFT graduate Darakhshan Husain (COO) and IIT Delhi graduate Feeroz (CTO), GlamStudios is cretaing technology driven standardized budget salons through aggregation and brand association.

Currently, the company has 10 operational salons across NCR and claims that it has serviced 150 clients and sold 200 yearly memberships on its first day of operations. The startup aims to have 100 salons in six months and 500 salons in the next one year.

It offers its services in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida as of now and aims to expand to 10 destinations, with launches in Faridabad and Gurgaon expected shortly. The company monetizes by taking 30% commission from the salons on gross revenue.

In August 2015 spa and salon marketplace Vyomo raised $2 million in Pre-series A round from Rocket Internet. Other players like Purplle, VanityCube and Getalook are also operating in similar segment.
