‘Vine’ Founder Dom Hofmann Introduces ‘Peach’ Messaging App For iOS Users

Socialising is one of the most common traits found in human beings, this is one of the reasons why apps like Whatsapp, Snapchat etc have gone viral all over the world. As technology improves and advances, the mobi-tech companies dealing in messaging apps are coming with something new, just everyday.

Peach’, a messaging app, initiated by the founder of Vine – Dom Hofmann, has already started creating a buzz among social enthusiasts. The engagement experience of the app is pretty much like Slack. Also it uses word commands and calls them ‘Magic Words’. Let’s just say you type GIF, the app will prompt to find and share a GIF file, similarly with the word ‘Draw’, you can draw a picture. Other magic words include:

  • Shout: To write a few words with an emoji, in a bigger font with a background colour.
  • Song: To just share whatever you’re listening to, you friends will be able to stream the same song through spotify or Apple Music.
  • Rate: Lets you rate anything, like a movie, a song etc.
  • Other words: gif, here, goodmorning, goodnight, battery, weather, move, meetings, safari, dice, time, date, movie, tv, and game.

The app team is also working on more words/commands and making the system more user friendly. The app also asks you questions when you don’t even know what to post but that anxiety is killing you from within. Peach has an interface like the Facebook wall, where people can like, share or comment on stuff you share. The most unique thing about the app is- it doesn’t have anything like direct messaging, everything is open and in public, just like Twitter. Also, it has a feature called ‘Wave’, which works like poking in facebook though it has a message attached to it like ‘Yo’ or ‘Yeah’. The app is available just for iOS now, but as the user base and its familiarity increases, they might enter open zone of Android.

After having players like Whatsapp, Snapchat, Hike, Facebook etc is there any space for a new entrant? Everyone is trying to enter in this domain, Facebook launched Slingshot, even Skype launched an app called Wire, but then they failed. It will be interesting to see if Peach is able to make a difference.
