Mumbai-based Venture Catalysts, a seed investment and innovation platform has invested $150,000 in SIFTR Labs, a platform for curating digital images using machine learning. Angel investors Vishal Maheshwari, Vikas Kapoor, Daud Ali and Nitin Agarwal have also participated in the round.
Commenting on the development, Maheshwari said, “We believe that another digital revolution is imminent which shall be driven by advanced GPU and machine learning.”
According to Romil Mittal, founder of SIFTR Labs which is an image analysis company, the mobile revolution has lead to more than a billion photos being uploaded everyday, making it difficult to find a ‘great’ photo when one’s searching for it. He said that the company is building its technology stack further to provide very advanced photo search for different use cases.
SIFTR Labs was founded by Mittal, who while working at Adobe for over a decade, met Co-founder Mayank Bhagya, a NIT Suratkal graduate who worked as a technical architect at Adobe. The startup aims to assist photographers in curating individual digital content photography platforms, claiming to have created the worlds’ first self updating photo website.
