Founded in 2014 by IIT-Delhi & DCE alumni: Abhishek Goel, Ankur Gupta, and Siddharth Kumar, Delhi-based StrollUp solves the problem “What to do and Where to go out?” in your city. The startup provides a way to find activities and places for your big or small outings. Using the website or its Android app, users can Discover Events, Ladies Night, Music Concerts, Live Shows, Nightlife Events, Fun Places, Night Clubs, Party Events, Romantic Places, Outing Plans and Karaoke Events in Delhi/NCR & Bangalore.
The startup has curated around 2500 places, over 100 new experiences and more than 200 events happening every week in Delhi & Bangalore. Also, it has created a decision making engine, which analyzes all the data, according to your mood, interests and people.
The company is bootstrapped so far. However, it is also looking to raise a seed round to expand its tech team and for marketing.
StrollUp claims that its app has reached 5000 downloads and growing 50% month on month. In the next one year, the startup plan to capture significant market share in Delhi & Bangalore. It is targeting more than 50000 downloads and plan to launch booking and invite, shortlist & discussion with friends in 6 months.
Talking about the company’s monetisation model, StrollUp’s Co-Founder Abhishek Goel told iamwire, “We would charge around 10%-15% commission from places on our user’s bill. We would charge monthly subscription from some places, which want to promote themselves in our app. Since, we would have a lot of data about local users, we would provide real time advertising opportunities to our partners. At 1 million users, our revenue would be Rs 3.6 crore per year.”
StrollUp is a youth oriented app targeted at age group 18-35 yrs living in tier 1 cities. Commenting on the market size, Abhishek further added that around 26 million people in 8 Indian cities spend $11 billion on local outings and the market is growing at 10% annually.
GoYaNo was founded in October 2015 by Gaurav Singh and Nitin Sharma. It is a free crowd sourced community which helps users to explore and book events around them; avail discounts; chat with users, establishment owners, artists and chefs; and receive real time feedback.
Goyano democratizes events & food related information dissemination & consumption by allowing key influencers like restaurant managers, Artists, event managers, chefs and many more to publish authentic content on the go which Goyano community members can consume. The app is available for Android users currently. The company is present in Delhi, Gurgaon & Noida as of now but soon will be expanding to other cities.
It is built as a social platform where key influencer can publish content which their followers can consume. The startup allows consumers to interact directly with the key influencers in real time. Consumers can post questions directly on its bulletin boards and key influencers along with other Goyano community members can answer them in realtime.
Some key people in events & food industry like DJs, Chefs, comedians & other artists are often neglected by the current solutions in market. Goyano brings them onboard and gives them a verified profile so that they can interact with people and increase their fan base.
Talking about the company’s vision, Gaurav Singh, GoYaNo’s Co-Founder told iamwire, “The vision is to bring the entire events & food ecosystem under one social platform. The startup has raised money from a private investor and used for making the product, creating sales team & marketing.
The company has more than 5,000 users onboard and made tie up with over 250 restaurants who are happily engaging with customers on its platform. More than 500 events / offers have been booked and availed already and over 4,000 messages have been exchanged between Goyano community members including restaurant owners.
Going forward, the startup plans to get top restaurants & key influencers of Delhi / NCR on board by February 2016. It also plans to cover 6 cities by end of its first year of operations and have an engaged user base of 3,00,000 including key influencers & customers.
The company is not monetising right now. It plans to generate revenue using following sources in near future:
– Commissions on booking events and offers
– Verified profiles of merchants and aritists

Townista is a free app which helps users to discover, book events and experiences happening in Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore & Mumbai. The startup was founded in 2014 by IIT Bombay alumni – Paras Jain and Snehal Nimje. The app is available for Android and iOS users.
Townista is solving user’s problem by providing actionable information of all the things to do. The company lists more than 800 events per week per city and have over 500 static places every city. Everything listed on Townista is check for the quality to deliver better user experience. User can chose to chat to its agents directly to know the amazing options nearby.
The startup claims that since May 2015,it has grown 10 times. Its app has around 50,000 downloads till now. Every week around 10,000 users from Banglaore, Delhi and Mumbai use Townista.
Talking about the company’s growth strategy, Paras Jain told iamwire, “we have grown 6 times in past 4 months and scaled to 2 more cities. By the end of 2016 we aim to be present in 8 cities and focus on creating a marketplace in this segment.”
Townista monetises by taking 10% – 20% commission per ticket sold/booking done. It also plans to charge event/experience providers for doing promotions – Interest based promotions, Locality based promotions and Promotion among the followers.
The company is funded by Power House Venture and GSF Accelerator. It consists of 10 members in its team.
Gurgaon-based an events discovery app, Nearify was founded in December 2012 by three IIT Kanpur alumni—Mayank Kumar, Saurav Singh and Vivek Srivastava. The app is available on Android, iPhone, iPad, and on their website.
Using the app or the website, users can discover new things to do, events in every city in India and outside India, such as trending events in Delhi, NCR, Gurgaon, Noida, Bangalore (Bangaluru), Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata as well as popular events in New York City (NYC), London, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Houston, Dallas, Singapore, Chicago, San Jose, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Austin, Miami etc.
Nearify recommends every day personalized list of events for users at the location of their choice as well as they can find what events their friends are liking and attending. Users can also check their favorite artists, musicians, comedians events are upcoming all at one place.
Nearify helps people discover all events happening near them from more than 20 million events worldwide. The startup is tracking more than 1 million events daily. In September 2014, it had secured a undisclosed amount of seed funding from Seedfund Advisors and India Quotient, with participation from Bedrock Ventures.
Founded in November 2015 by Nishant Nandan Singh & Saurabh Chawla, My Party Venue is an end- to- end venue booking platform seeking to bridge the gap between venue owners and people looking out for venues to organize social and corporate events, where they can qualify, compare, & book the perfect venue within their budget through an online reverse auction process. Besides venue booking, it also provides event discovery services and plans to add allied service booking in the near future.
The portal has more than 100 registered users, over 90 nightclubs & restrobars onboard & around 25 private parties held across Delhi/NCR.
