Bangalore-based online food tech company Food Vista India Pvt Ltd which owns and operates FreshMenu, has raised $16.5 million in a fresh round of funding led by Zodius Capital with participation from existing investor Lightspeed Venture Partners. The latest funding round valued the company at $45 million, as per a TOI report.
Founded in 2014 by Rashmi Daga, FreshMenu aims to utilise the raised funding for its expansion plans, increase its staff members and build the brand. The company runs its own kitchen and deliver fresh food and meals, prepared by chefs. Currently, it is having its operations in Bangalore, Mumbai and Gurgaon. GrowthStory, the family office of K Ganesh and his spouse Meena Ganesh, is one of the early investors in FreshMenu.
Other food delivery startups having their own kitchens and delivery include Faasos, Yumist, Innerchef among others. Faasos has raised $58 million so far, InnerChef and HolaChef have raised comparatively lesser funding of $1.6 million and $3.4 million respectively.
The news comes at a time when food companies like TinyOwl and Zomato have fired hundreds of their employees in recent months while others startups like SpoonJoy and Dazo decided to shut down their operations.Category Investments News
