Delhi based crowdfunding platform, Bitgiving, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from various angel investors including Harminder Sahni (founder of Wazir Advisors), Krishna Mehra (Co-Founder at Capillary Technologies), Sanjay Bakshi and others.The funds will be used to scale up the team, enhancing the product and marketing.
BitGiving is an online crowdfunding platform to raise funds for entrepreneurial ideas, creative minds and social issues. BitGiving was founded in 2013 by Ishita Anand and Fahad Moti Khan. The company not only generates funds but also verifies the causes and how the funding is being used. When asked about how they monetize, they said that they charge a small percentage of fee on the funds raised.
Their campaigns have been backed by veterans like Anand Mahindra, Soha Ali Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Gul Panag and many more. The company has also tied up with various NGO’s like Amnesty International, Child Rights and You (CRY) etc to support various causes by raising funds on their platform.
Talking about the newly secured funding, Ishita, said, “This round of investment will be used to accelerate our vision of taking BitGiving to the next level. We have some very interesting things planned this year, along with the launch of BitGiving 2.0, which is going to redefine community driven crowdfunding.”
Some of the potent competitors to the company include, Ketto, crowdzilla, Wishberry etc. Ketto has already raised $850,000 in two rounds by ah Ventures, Internet India Fund, LetsVenture and others.
