NDTV’s Wellness eCommerce Platform SmartCooky Raises Angel Investment

SmartCooky, Media Group NDTV’s eCommerce platform, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Pramod Bhasin (Former CEO of Genpact), Rajan Anandan (MD of Google Southeast Asia and India), Siddarth Pai (Son of Chairman of Manipal Group of Education) and Manvinder Singh Banga (former Unilever executive board member).

The documents filed quoted that the company was valued at $12 million by these investors. Promod Bhasin has also invested in NDTV 360.

SmartCooky is an eCommerce platform that sells healthy food and personal care products in India. The company is based on its current food site food.NDTV.com, which gets 3 million visitors on a monthly basis.

The company is planning to launch TV shows on its channel featuring Smartcooky. Recently, NDTV also ventured in wedding planning and launched Special Occasions, which also raised some amount from a US-based venture fund. Not only this but also its gadgets review platform Gadget360 was turned into an eCommerce platform, which also received funding from various investors.

Auto portal, Fifth auto gear, is also NDTV’s venture, which will be aimed to be built through their channel’s auto review programs. NDTV entered into the eCommerce space with IndianRoots in 2013 selling ethnic wear, and has been expanding its verticals since.
