MobieFit, Goa based mobile fitness startup has raised $1M in strategic investment from Bangalore-based Medi Assist.
MobieFit was incubated at Prototyze and had previously raised an angel round of funding from Siddharth Parekh (Paragon Partners), and Mahesh Murthy (SeedFund). MobieFit was founded by Gourav Jaswal and Gul Panag (Chief Fitness Officer).
The startup aims to roll out multiple products focusing on mobile fitness with FirstRun, a voice-assisted coaching-based running app as their debut product. The team is also looking to grow features such as a store that sells curated running merchandize and a content library with instructional videos.
Medi Assist, a managed healthcare company believes that this strategic partnership will further strengthen its presence in the corporate segment and also allow the company to extend its offerings for Indian consumer health and fitness market.
Medi Assist manages corporate wellness programs for 5000+ corporate customers as mentioned by the company. Satish Gidugu, COO – Medi Assist believes that mobile fitness, customized to specific needs of each individual, and combined with gamification to add a social flavour, is the next logical evolution for their mobile app users.
The Indian startup entrepreneurs are certainly building mobility solutions across the spectrum of Health & Fitness Sector ranging from Fitness Assistant to Gym Aggregators to Fitness Trackers.
