The taxi market is a $13 billion market in India, growing at more than 25% annually. The opportunities in this industry are immense with new players emerging everyday in segments like Radio Taxi, Tourist Taxi, Self Drive and Ride Share cab service. TaxiVaxi is a startup which provides these services on its platform.
Founded in December 2014 by Neeraj Tayal, Ankit Gupta and Vinod Kumar, TaxiVaxi is a cab aggregating platform used for booking Radio Taxi, Tour Taxi, Self Drive cars and carpooling from multiple operators/ vendors on one platform.
Talking about the idea to start TaxiVaxi, the Co-Founders said, “Idea came in September 2014, when we had to travel to Delhi from Mumbai. We booked Ola cab but at the last moment the cab driver did not come. Then we tried Uber but all in vain. Then we searched for other taxi operators. Got the number of Meru from Just Dial and booked the cab. Finally we paid a premium on the booking but we still missed out flight. At that moment we were struck with the idea of a platform where where all the radio taxi operators can be shown on one app with all the necessary details. And that is how TaxiVaxi was established.”
What problems is it solving?
The Delhi-based startup works on a model which enables users to find the operators/ service providers on one platform. Users can compare fares, ratings, availability and then book the cab immediately. The startup also provides 24X7 customer care to cater to any of the customer requirements.
The startup is competing with Scoot, EK, TaxiPixi and others. It is also competes with other cab aggregator services such as Uber, Ola, etc.
Currently, the startup monetizes from the bookings taken in Tour Taxi and Self Drive. In future, the company has plans to monetize from Radio Taxi bookings and Ride Sharing as well.
Present Status and Future Plans of the Company
The company is currently bootstrapped. However, it has plans of raising funds in the future.
Its Android app service was launched on 15th October 2015. It has been downloaded 350 times since its launch. Using the app, more than 400 searches have been made and around 40 bookings have been confirmed. Currently the startup’s service is present in 20 cities of India.
For future, the startup is planning to be operational in 100 Indian cities. It is planning to target its international reach. It is also thinking of launching a magazine i.e. TaxiVaxi Diaries, with the intention of promoting tourism in India and will talk about places less travelled in the country. It will also launch the Dhaba Menu on the drive. This content shall be integrated with the app and the users can browse the Dhaba Menu’s while they are on a holiday trip.
