Indian eCommerce store that deals only in mattresses and pillows, Sundayrest, has raised $300,000 in its seed round of funding from a group of investors including Anand Morzaria, Founder at Pennywise whose company was acquired by Ogilvy Mather.
It is dealing in a highly niche space, selling bedding equipment which it sources from international brands. The startup has tied up with Shippr and The Porter for delivery of products. For Bengaluru, Sundayrest offers same day delivery service whereas for other cities, the mattresses get delivered within a week. It offers hundred nights risk free trial with which customers can get a full cash refund if they are not happy with the mattress.
Same day delivery is currently being offered in Bangalore. Other key cities, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai will follow soon.
Currently, the startup has two type of products – Ortho Plus mattress which is available at Rs. 17,990 and Latex Plus mattress which is priced at Rs. 34,490.
Commenting on market size and opportunity, Sundayrest’s Founder Alphonse Reddy added, “Bedding is a $3 billion market, growing at close to 20% year on year. Sunday is here to make mattress buying seamless with its quality and service driven online venture.” Brands like Kurlon, Sleepwell, Springfit, Springwell among others are also operating in the same space. While not many such startups exist, the company is competing with marketplaces like Flipkart, Snapdeal etc. and niche furniture portals like Peppertap, UrbanLadder etc. who deal in the same products among others.Category Investments News Startups
