Mumbai-based online marketplace to find maids in real time, BookMyBai has raised Rs 1 crore in its first angel round of funding from 50k Ventures and a group of angel investors led by Vineel Nalla, CEO, NBOS Technologies. Started in May 2015 by Anupam Sinhal and Vikash Chowdhury, the startup plans to use raised funding for aggressive expansion of team and demography. It plans to start operations in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata in the next 6-12 months.
The startup currently has 25 members in its team. BookMyBai.com is also talking to a couple of VC firms for the next round of Series-A funding and would make an announcement in a couple of months.
BookMyBai provides a platform to hire maids, baby sitters, senior citizen care and cooks in India. The startup expects to close this financial year with a revenue of Rs 2 crore and aims to increase this to 25 crore by the end of FY16-17.
It has over 10000 verified domestic helps across 4 categories – Maids, baby sitter/nanny, cook and caretakers across 4 cities including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Surat for permanent part-time maids and pan-India for permanent full-time maids. Home owners can also watch pre-recorded interviews online before meeting the help personally.
The other players like Househelp, Nanojobs, Helper4U and Honestcollars also operate in the similar space. With approximately 5 crore middle-class households and 25 lakh SMEs, there is vast potential for startups in this space.
