LA Based Firm Zealot Buys Indian Multi Channel Network Nirvana Digital

Los Angeles-based digital media company Zealot Networks has acquired Mumbai-headquartered Nirvana Digital, a multi-channel YouTube network which specialises in Bollywood-related content creation and distribution. This is Zealot’s first international acquisition. The deal amount is still undisclosed but the transaction was a combination of cash and stock.

“With 232 million internet users (according to Lighthouse Insights) and more than 65% of internet traffic stemming from mobile, India seems like a pretty good start when looking outside the U.S. borders,” Conn Fishburn, Zealot Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer told StreamDaily.

Nirvana Digital has a collection of more than 200 channels and over 250,000 videos. As per its own statistics, the company has earned more than one billion views in 2014. The firm also create and distributes content on videos platforms like Hulu, iTunes, Amazon, Apple iTunes and Mubi.

This is Zealot’s 18th acquisition overall. Previous acquisitions include management companies such as Converge and online publishers such as NewMediaRockStars, as well as the multi-platform distributor Allscreen. Several of its acquisitions, including DashGo and AdRev also have multi channel network like components.
