Zapak Mobile Games, which is a unit of Anil Ambani led Reliance Games, has sold off 10% of its stake to China based Lead Eastern Group for $15 million. The deal has been accompanied with a three way joint venture being created between Reliance Games, Lead Eastern and Creative Cultural where they’ll hold 40%, 51% and 9% stakes respectively, as reported by TOI.

The motive behind this venture is to create and market mobile games, where Zapak will benefit through expansion of its business in China and other markets globally. Lead Eastern is a public listed company that focuses on investments in entertainment initiatives including gaming, film and television production. It is a strategic partnership for Creative Cultural as well, since it manages intellectual property rights of entertainment focused companies, including Hollywood production houses.

Reliance Entertainment has multiple entities under its umbrella – Reliance Games, BigFlix, 92.7 FM among others. The company had consolidated its gaming business in 2012 which was spread across Zapak and Jump Games brands, and rebranded as Zapak Mobile Games.

Zapak offers games across several genres and has partnership with global players such as POPCAP, Playfish, Boonty, Oberon, Come2Play etc. Its holding company, Reliance Games, claims to have more than 8.5 million online registered users and over 5 million unique users per month across its network. It already has three studios worldwide, and with this initiative it plans to achieve a global scale with more fire power.
