Microsoft Launches Cortana for Android In Beta Version

Microsoft has launched its Cortana virtual assistant software in beta version for Android mobile users. The software is capable of doing most of the things as it does on Windows 10 PC or Windows Phone.

The beta version of the software will be available for Android users in US and soon it will be rolled out to other markets. “With the help of the Cortana app, you can manage your hectic lifestyle by setting and getting reminders, searching the web on-the-go, tracking important information such as flight details as well as starting and completing tasks across all of your devices,” as quoted in the official blog post.

The most compelling feature of the app is its Notebook which educates it about its user’s interests, favorite places, and lifestyle thereby making the app a personalized assistant of the user.

Since the service is available in its beta version opening apps or invoking Cortana hands-free by saying “Hey Cortana” are only available on Windows for now. The company is continually working and improving on the application and will incorporate the feedback of its users along the way. It is also working on its iOS version of Cortana, but did not specify the launch date of it.

Microsoft’s Cortana is a direct competition of AI assistants Apple’s Siri and Google Now, which responds to user’s voice commands on mobile devices.
