After raising angel funding in April, Mumbai-based home service provider DoorMint has now raised $3 million in its series A round. Co-led by Helion Ventures and Kalaari Captial, the investment will provide the resources to DoorMint to expand its current service network in Mumbai as well as establish its presence in other metro cities.
Doormint is also looking to hire new talent in its team across marketing, operations and technology. Its expansion plans are already lined up for Delhi, Gurgaon and Bengaluru for the next three months. “With the funding, Doormint plans to set in motion an aggressive, targeted expansion campaign that would establish it as a leader owing to its innovative technology to control operations and better networking capability with both customers and service providers,” the company said in a statement.
Launched in January 2015 by three ex IITians Naman Lahoty (IITB), Abhinav Agarwal (IITB) and Piyush Ranjan (IITK), DoorMint has also launched its app for Android and iOS users. Its current services include on-demand electrician, plumber, carpenter, electronics appliance repair, laundry and pest control. The company handles 150-200 orders per day across eight service categories ranging from plumbing to laundry, having grown 50% month-on-month. It expects to hit 1000 daily bookings by the end of the year.
It competes with players like UrbanClap, LocalOye, Housejoy, TimeSaverz, Taskbob, Mr. Right and Zepper, and on the global front Thumbtack, Handy, TaskRabbit, and Alfred are in the same segment too.
