To offer convenience to customers, Uber has started accepting credit card payments in India again after it was forced by local legislation to switch to a mobile wallet payment system last November.
This payment option shall be rendered in partnership with MobiKwik, along with support for debit cards.
The new system follows the Reserve Bank of India’s guidelines, which prescribe mandatory two-factor authentication for use with credit cards when physical cards aren’t presented.
If the customer uses a credit card to pay for their ride, they also need to enter their online banking PIN or a one-time password generated and sent by the bank over SMS to complete the transaction.
Currently, this feature is only available to Android users. The iOS users will have to wait for a while to avail of this option.
