Healthcare startup Lybrate raised an amount of $10 million in a Series A round of funding from Tiger Global Management, Ratan Tata and its existing investor Nexus Venture Partners.
Raised amount will be used for product development, recruit new talent and to scale company’s operations to other cities as reported by Medianama.
Founded in 2013 by Saurabh Arora and Rahul Narang, the startup is a free service for all patients to help locate good doctors in their locality. Most recommended doctors only are shown by the search engine of the app. Each search that the user makes displays’ the doctor’s specialty, address, experience, consultation fee, and a chart displaying the date and timings available for an appointment. The app also provides the facility where a patient can also ask a query publically on the platform which is answered by the doctors.
In August 2014, the company had raised $1.23 million from Nexus Venture Partners and other unknown investors. Till now the company has connected over 80,000 doctors from various specialties across India.
“We see a significant user engagement on the subjects related to sexual health, women’s health, psychological problems, especially depression, which means people want to have solutions regarding these. Through the Lybrate app, we want every Indian to talk about every possible health issue and take informed decisions,” said Saurabh Arora, co-founder, Lybrate.
