After raising $1.6 million in seed funding in April, online marketplace for day-to-day services, UrbanClap has now secured $10 million in series A funding from existing investors SAIF Partners and Accel Partners. The company, currently serving Delhi-NCR, Bangalore and Mumbai plans to invest the funds to scale its operations Pan-India, strengthening its technology, and growing its 100 member team to 500+.
Founded in October 2014 by Varun Khaitan, Abhiraj Bhal and Raghav Chandra, UrbanClap is a platform which provides service professionals to the customers. To access these services, the user must enter his/her needs on the company’s website or its Android app, and the platform will bring the right professionals to them. It offers more than 50 services across five categories – home, health, events, lessons and other personal services, which include things like salon at home and party makeup.
“In a short span of a few months since launch, we have seen phenomenal traction from customers. We are currently serving 1000+ customer requests each day. Additionally, we have a strong, engaged base of 5000+ suppliers, connected to our merchant app. With the new funding, we plan to grow 10 times on every metric in the quarter,” said Abhiraj Singh Bhal.
A few other players which are working in this arena are Taskbob, LocalOye, Oyk, Housejoy, and Goodservice among others.
