Twitter can Now Target Ads Based on Your App Download Pattern

Twitter now allows advertisers to show the users, ads based on the apps they have already downloaded. The official announcement of this tool was made by the social networking site on Wednesday.

The new tool which is designed specially for advertisers is called “installed app category targeting.” The motive is to enable marketers to target their ads specifically to users who have previously installed similar apps.

Here’s what Deepak Rao,Twitter’s Project Manager for Revenue, said, “For example, an advertiser who wants to drive installs of a task management app can select the “Productivity” category to reach users who have recently installed similar apps. That same advertiser may know that productivity app users also tend to use finance apps, so they can target the “Finance” category to connect with new people who are likely to be interested in their app.”

The tool also has a tracking feature which gives suggestions to the advertisers on people who are to be followed. Further, it provides an analytics dashboard that gives insights into how users are responding to the targeted ads.

The app-tracking features are also used to inform “who to follow” suggestions and other tweets from accounts you don’t follow that show up in your timeline.
