Mumbai-based Newgen Internet Networks, which owns and operates an online beauty video portal named Glamrs, has raised close to $940,000 in pre-series A round of funding led by Ventureworks India. The other investors including Blume Ventures, Batlivala & Karani Securities, and System Plus Group of companies Founder Nikunj Jhaveri also participated in the round. Post investment, Keshav Sanghi, Founder of VentureWorks India and former MD of Goldman Sachs India is joining company’s board of directors.
“The new funding will be used for scaling up the company’s content team, building key data analytics, and strengthen the technology and mobile platform for videos,” said Naveen Sadarangani, Co-founder and Managing Director, Glamrs.
Founded in 2012 by angel investor Sadarangani (backed Cleartrip and Vizury), Zubin Sarkari, and Shanel Chellaram, Glamrs explores various categories for women like makeup, style, nutrition, and fitness among others. The company offers engaging content in the form of videos.
Be Beautiful website is also operating in similar space but it provides write-ups on skin care, hair care, makeup and fashion, rather than videos.
