Virtual Reality device making company Oculus has announced that it will invest $10 million into Indie (games developed by individuals and small teams) games development.
The company has its most anticipated product ‘Rift’, a VR gaming platform, which it intends to launch with a number of gaming titles. The investment is being seen as a step to lure developers to create games for the ‘Rift’ platform.
This move may entice indie developers to bring new and interesting experiences to VR, and it could help the Facebook-owned company get a head start on competitors in the VR space with exclusive titles.
Anna Sweet, Head of developer strategy, said that Oculus wants a future where anyone can be a creator. The company hopes this fund will support the growing crowd of gamers and developers, according to VB.
