icustommadeit.com, a Pune based startup that facilitates creation and retail of customized merchandise, has raised USD 250,000 in its second round of funding. The investment was led by Virendra Shahney, a director, producer and screenwriter in the television industry and Cardiologist Dr. Paresh Doshi.
When iamWire had profiled the company in May 2015, its founder Raj Iyer had shared his plans of using the investment to improve its technology for a better user interface, and build an international presence in upcoming six months. Further he also added, “We are also tying up with various NGOs in the country as they do formidable work with indigenous artists and craftsmen. We aim to make one lakh millionaires within the next five years from the local artisan pool by connecting them with enthusiastic buyers through icustommadeit.” With the current round of funding, the startup has raised a total amount of $ 400,000.
Founded in May 2013 by Raj Iyer and Kundan Dhake, the company is an online marketplace to connect individuals looking for unique bespoke creations with talented curated professional creators from all over the world. It had earlier raised $150,000 from Ms. Salma Chugh the MD of Vertex Group. The fund was used to increase manpower, and enhance technology.
The startup has over 8,000+ items listed on the site across 33 odd categories, for the consumers to choose, customize and purchase from. The company has around 900 unique creators on board.
