Google has launched revamped version of Google Trends that brings real-time trend information – a tool that gives users access to the more than 100 billion searches that take place on Google every month. The redesigned homepage is available in 28 countries around the world, and the company said it will continue to add more locations in the coming months.

Google will now provide real-time list of trending stories, and additional information on the redesigned Trends search page. The company has increased the breadth and coverage of Google Trends data to allow for in-depth research on more niche topics in smaller geographies. To do this, the tool also merges information picked from YouTube and Google News to form trend reports.

The company has also posted a video featuring journalists from the Vox Media, The New York Times, PropPublica, and ESPN’s Five ThirtyEight, all are explaining why data driven journalism is significant.

People who are interested in tending topics can now also download Google Trends Datasets with more information about key trends for their own analysis and imagination.
