Free online language learning platform ‘Duolingo’, announced that it has raised a funding of $45 million. The funding is led by Google Capital and values the company at $470 million.
Duolingo uses the data translated by the user while learning languages, and creates value out of it.
The platform wants to transform online education from the passive watching of videos into something more interactive and engaging. For which it has hired an entire team of machine learning PhDs to make it more adaptive and personalized, according to NBW.
The new funds will be used to boost Duolingo’s machine learning capabilities and help the company become more popular in schools around the globe.
The company was founded in 2011 and already boasts of being the most downloaded educational app in Play store and App store, with over 100 million student users.Category Investments Startups
