Facebook group EatTreat raised an investment of $350,000 from 15 investors confirmed Arjun Sawhney who runs a Delhi based public relations and brand consultancy firm ‘The Communication Council-Green Goose Design’ and is the admin of the group.
Divitas Capital, filmmaker Homi Adajania, Fashion Editor Bandana Tewari, Interior Designer Sussanne Khan, Kalyani Saha ( Dior Couture, India), Editor Nonita Kalra, restaurateur Andrea Aftab and wife Pia Pauro (Directors at EATINC and proprietors of Amici and the Imperial Hotel) and Shiv Khanna (Director, Catalyst Ventures) are some of the investors backing the group.
The group is preparing to launch a website. The raised fund will be used to bring the product to life, build infrastructure and hire talent. Proprietary content of the website will have a database of tested recipes and articles covering topics related to food.
“It serves as a platform for home chefs and professionals in the food industry to promote themselves and aims to bridge the gap between consumers and providers. We have 18 employees on board now, including photographers and chefs,” said group founder Arjun Sawhney. He also commented that the majority of the stakes will be with the holding company. By 2016, the Group Founder has plans of raising a second round of institutional funding.
With around 50,000 members in the group, it allows its users to narrate the experience of their food journey. The page will encourage engagement among foodies and revenue model will be advertisement linked, as reported by ET.Category Investments Startups
