IndianOnlineSeller Launches “What, Why & How of eCommerce” Workshop for Sellers Looking to Go Online

With increasing Internet penetration, the Internet has become the new shopping mall with customers from all over the country. Online shopping has taken the retail industry by storm and eCommerce has become the new playground, the difference being every seller is a winner – customers don’t see how big or small a seller is as long as quality products are delivered on time.

Online retail in India rose from Rs 22,400 crores in 2013-14 to Rs 33,400 crores in 2014-15, IN JUST A YEAR! By 2016, the industry is predicted to value Rs 50,400 crores (Source: Crisil). Reaping the benefits of these are the small and medium, traditional retailers from across the country, set up costs being a fraction of what one would have to shell out for a physical retail store.

eCommerce is Different from Retail

Due to FDI restrictions and more, India has many eCommerce marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, PayTM etc. These provide a unique opportunity for companies to reach out to national buyer base without spending excessively on their website technology or Internet marketing.

This trend provides companies in flourishing markets like Jaipur to go national. But, eCommerce is an “information heavy” business. To ace eCommerce, companies have to make sure that information about products, inventory, orders, deliveries flow between various IT systems smoothly. Just as an example, the moment you sell one piece of an SKU in your store, the available inventory on your website and your Flipkart/Snapdeal/Amazon account needs to adjust immediately. Many other such information processes need to be mastered.

Acing eCommerce is also a multi-channel game. You have to be present in every ‘online mall’ where the customers are flocking. This multiplies the complexity of the business.
