Bengaluru-based startup, TheKarrier which provides on-demand truck services, has raised $235,000 from Sol Primero, Outbox Ventures, and Frankly.me founder Nikunj Jain. The company will use the new funds to expand its presence to more four cities this year.
Founded in December 2014 by Aravind Sanka, Pavan Guntupalli and Rishikesh Ramanath, TheKarrier is an online mini trucks marketplace for transportation of goods. Currently, it is operational in Bengaluru only and works on a pay-by-kilometer model. It has access to more than 300 vehicles and reportedly executes 1,000 orders a month for clients including Delhivery and Flipkart.
The firm’s businesses includes last mile logistics handling, order tracking, fleet utilization, van rentals, customer support and analytics.
It competes with other players like Trucksuvidha, Blowhorn, Trucksfirst, Truckmandi, Moovo, ThePorter etc. The last mile delivery segment is estimated to have a market size of $10-12 billion. The sector currently is fragmented with almost 85% of the market made up of individual truck owners who have 1-3 trucks and get freedom of charging what they want.
