US based Gameit, a free mobile trivia app that rewards consumers with prizes and shopping deals for engaging with brands, today announced that it has a successfully closed a $1.6 million seed funding round from private angel investors along with DAK Capital.
The app is a platform to turn online advertisements into interactive games, so as to get a potential consumer engaged
The model works like this, the users select a product in the Gameit app on an iPhone or iPad (an Android version is planned), watch a short, brand-supplied video ad, and then answer trivia questions. Correct answers get points, with more points for faster answers.
If the game has the required minimum number of players, the highest point scorer when the eight-day game period ends gets a product by that brand for free. Everyone else gets discount coupons ranging from 20 percent to 80 percent off, depending on their ranking. The product can then be purchased through the app.
The new funding will be used by Gameit for customer acquisition, research and development, continued growth and additional brand relationships. The company already has brands like Kate Spade, Lululemon, Nikon and Sephora in its bandwagon.
