After raising angel funding from Sachin Bansal and others in December 2014, Bengaluru based food delivery startup, SpoonJoy has now raised $1 million from SAIF Partners. The new funding will be used to expand to Delhi and Mumbai in the next two months.
Founded in 2013 by Manish Jethani, SpoonJoy offers subscription service for delivering the food of the user’s choice to their home or office. Currently, the firm claims to be serving 700-750 orders a day and in December the company had said it receives about 350-400 orders a day, majority of which comes from offices.
It earns revenue both from the subscription model where user can sign up for the month, and pay-as-you order.
Online food ordering and delivery segment seems to be hot among the investors. Others players in the domain includes iTiffin, TinyOwl, Zomato, Foodpanda, and Swiggy have also raised funding recently.
