Mumbai-based on-demand food delivery startup, Box8 that was launched in September 2011 by IIT graduates Anshul Gupta and Amit Raj, has raised series A funding from Mayfield. The raised funding will go towards technology development, team expansion, increasing market penetration as well as to built a seamless customer experience across its mobile and web platforms.
The firm has also received funding from Kaushal Aggarwal of Avendus Capital, Dheeraj Rajaram of MuSigma and Indian Angel Network. It had also launched its app for Android and iOS users, that allows users to order Poncho box, wraps, and sandwiches. The company aims to serve Indian food with a twist similar to the usual fast food fare dished out by multinational burger and pizza chains.
Few days back, Bengaluru based food delivery startup, SpoonJoy had raised $1 million from SAIF Partners. Others players in the domain includes iTiffin, TinyOwl, Zomato, Foodpanda, and Swiggy have also raised funding recently.
