Goodbox app, that allows businesses to connect with customers over chat for communication, feedback and information dissemination, has raised a pre-series A round of $200,000. The round was led by Manipal Media Networks, along with participation from Taxi for Sure co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna and redBus Co-founder Charan Padmaraju and its existing seed round investors. The company aims to utilize the raised funding for building technology as well as it is looking at working on deep engagement and partnerships with retail businesses.
Started by Co-founders Abey Zachariah, Nithin Chandra, Mahesh Herle, Mohit Maheshwari, Anand Kelaginamani, and Charan Shetty, Goodbox provides a platform where customers can directly interact over chat with a business. It is a chat based commerce platform which enables the business to put up photographs/images, send group messages to their customers, set up store timings and even provide a menu function to list their items. The company is adding payment option shortly and focus on maximizing transactions.
The search function in the app enables a customer to search for a business by name or category or with a special feature called “nearby” that enables hyperlocal discovery of grocery and home-made food directly from local merchants in south Bangalore. Customers can also find bike rentals, car rentals, Herbals & Ayurveda products, organic milk, butter, paneer and more on the company’s website.
The app is available for Android users only. Currently, Goodbox is used by more than 550 registered businesses.
Other players operating in same space are HeyBiz, LookUp, Akosha, LazyLad, Haptik etc., and many of these have already raised capital to fuel their growth strategy.
