Mumbai-based on-demand home and services startup, TaskBob has raised $1.2 million led by Orios Venture Partners with participation from Mayfield Fund. Currently, the firm operational in Powai (suburb of Mumbai) will use the raised capital for expanding to other parts of the city.
The startup offers instant home services by sending a serviceman to people doorstep to fix their household appliances. If the customer is not satisfied with the service, then the startup promises to pay back the money.
The other players in the same space is LocalOye, which raised $5 million in series A funding from Tiger Global and Lightspeed Venture Partners. In January, Gurgaon-based services marketplace, Near.in which helps users to discover service providers in their vicnity, had secured Rs 1.8 crore.
Last month, mobile marketplace for finding local services, Qyk has also raised angel funding from a group of angel investors including early investors of Ola, Housing and Delhivery.
Technology driven local services marketplaces are a new segment people are venturing into and the investors too are seeing potential in such models.
