Gurgaon-based online health store Healthkart.com has separated its generic drug search business HealthkartPlus and rebranded it to 1MG, which will be operated under 1MG Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The company has raised $6 million in a fresh round of funding from MakeMyTrip Founder Deep Kalra and other investors such as Sequoia Capital, Omidyar Network, Intel Capital and Kae capital.
Until recently, Healthkart and HealthkartPlus were run by Bright Lifecare Pvt. Ltd. 1MG is an online database of over 100,000 drugs with detailed information on their side effects, interactions and composition. Also, it has a price comparison feature.
Gurgaon-based Healthkart was founded in 2011 by Prashant Tandon and Sameer Maheshwari, the company has raised a total capital close to $22.5 million. IMG will be headed by Tandon, while Sameer will continue to look after Healthkart.
Healthkart will focus on fitness and nutrition businesses and plans to exit other categories such as beauty, personal care, baby care and eye care. Also, it will be launching a meal replacement brand in the coming 3-4 moths. It connects various pharmacy in Delhi and Bengaluru, also plans to expand in to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Chandigarh by the year end.
