Ex-NASA Engineer to Use Drones to Plant One Billion Trees a Year

Biocarbon Engineering is a startup that aims to help solve the world’s environmental problems by using drones to plant forests of seedlings. Drones will fly two or three meters above the ground and fire out pods containing pre-germinated seeds that are covered in a nutritious hydrogen.

Lauren Fletcher, an ex NASA engineer and the Founder of BioCarbon Engineering said,“We are going to counter industrial scale deforestation using industrial scale reforestation.” The environmental engineer who worked 20 years with NASA wants to use drone technology to plant up to one billion trees a year, without having to plant each one by hand.

In another news of the same regard where technology is being used to preserve nature, Apple recently acquired a 36,000 acre forest to preserve and maintain it so as to use them for product packaging in distinct future.
