Delhi-based education focused gaming startup, Nayi Disha Studios which was founded by BITS Pilani Alumni Kartik Aneja and Kushal Bhagia, has raised Rs 2 crore in seed funding. The investment was led by Ajay Relan, managing partner of mid-to-growth stage private equity firm CX Partners.
As per an ET report, the raised funding will be used to expand across the country as well as enter international markets, particularly the Middle East, Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 2012, Nayi Disha provides motion sensor based learning apps spread across a range of subjects including math, languages and general knowledge. The apps have been built around the company’s flagship character Kaju, the alien character animated by Nayi Disha for primary level students. Kaju gives kids safe tips and introduce basics in science and math, covering various aspects of primary education.
The apps are designed mainly for children in the age group of 3-6 years. Currently, the startup serves 50 schools across the country, including cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Baroda.
“We’ve created about 30 apps so far, and are now looking to break into the consumer market as well. We’re looking at selling the product in brick-and-mortar retail stores as well as online,” Aneja said.
Relan, who usually invest between Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crore, has also backed Chinese cuisine platform Happy Hakka.
