‘Qyk’, Mobile Marketplace for Local Services Raises Angel Funding

Founded in October 2014, mobile marketplace for finding local services, Qik has raised angel funding from a group of angel investors including early investors of Ola, Housing and Delhivery. Investors include Zishaan Hayath (co-founder of Toppr and Powai Lake Ventures), Abhishek Goyal (CEO and co-founder of Tracxn.com, ex-Accel Partners) and Sahil Barua (CEO and co-founder of Delhivery).

Qyk is a mobile platform which enables customers to hire service providers and professionals near their area. This includes service providers other than ‘home services’. It offers the customer, options tailored to his personalized needs by enabling comparisons and competitive quotes.

Apart from its smartphone app, the company offers its services on its website. At present the services are available under three categories – Lessons, Events and Professionals. Lessons having service providers for music classes, Tennis coaching, dance classes etc. In Events there are service providers for wedding photography, wedding organizer, event organizer, among others. Professional services includes family counselor, investment consultant, tax consultant, interior designer, chartered accountant and more.

The other player in the same space is Gurgaon-based Near.in, which helps users to discover service providers in their vicnity, had secured INR 1.8 crore from Anupam Mittal of Shaadi.com, Manish Vij of SVG Media, Healthkart CEO Prashant Tandon and CTO Gaurav Agarwal and others.
