Pebble Time smartwatch, which was launched on Kickstarter in February this year has now became the Kickstarter’s most funded campaign. Now in total, the company has secured a capital of more than $20.3 million. It has received $20,338,986 from 78,471 backers. The initial goal was $500,000. As per the company’s statement, the raised funding will go towards the production process.
The smartwatch features a color e-ink display, 7-day battery life, a 20% thinner body and waterproof capabilities. It was available during the Kickstarter campaign for $179 instead of the retail price when it fully launches at $199.
On the launch day, Pebble Time broken a Kickstarter record by surpassing $1 million mark in just 49 minutes. The company will start shipping the Pebble Time watch to its backers in May.
The others companies which also raised quick funding through Kickstarter include Ouya console ($8.5M), The Oatmeal’s Exploding Kittens card game ($8.7M), the original Pebble ($10.2M), and the Coolest cooler ($13.2M).
