Parenting Site TheAsianparent Raises Funding; Plans to Enter India

TheAsianparent is a free online community targeting parents in South East Asia, has raised funding from Vertex Venture. While the exact amount hasn’t been disclosed yet, it has raised a total of $3.27 million so far.

The raised funding will be used to expand regionally, but especially into India. It already has a localized site for India, named Indusparent, which will offer localized content.

TheAsianparent is a publication under Tickled Media which also runs other properties like, a content site for pregnant mums-to-be, and Kidlander, an event listings site for expat parents.
It claims to have 6 million unique users a month hitting over 46 million page views monthly. Most of its readers come from Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and India. The company’s leadership is mainly female, it plans to focus more on dads. It will also develop more user-generated content and videos through its Q&A platform as well as launch its Android & iOS apps by the middle of this year.
Apart from this, Vertex had also made investment in GrabTaxi, a Southeast Asian taxi app, Paktor, a Tinder-like dating app headquartered in Singapore, and biotech firm Clearbridge BioMedics.
