Ola has now enabled cashless rides via its in-app Ola money wallet for auto-rickshaws booking, that will be available in Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Ahmadabad, and Bengaluru. Also, users in Mumbai can book Kaali-Peeli taxis via Ola app and can also be paid for using the wallet.
With the integration of cashless payment in-app Ola money wallet for auto rickshaws, users will not be required to carry cash. To pay through the in-app wallet, customers have to inform the driver about the payment mode. On completion of the ride, the driver will enter the fare displayed on the meter, followed by the four-digit OTP that the customer will receive via an SMS. The company claims to have over 40,000 autos and Kaali-Peeli taxis registered across India on its mobile application.
“Ola money is automatically deducted from the customer’s account. Drivers can withdraw their payments any time from the prepaid ATM card that is linked to their Ola account,” the company added.
Ola began offering auto rides in Bengaluru in November 2014, followed by Delhi and introduced Kaali-Peeli taxi services in October 2014. The company launched its in-app wallet in September last year. Earlier this month, Ola bought its rival TaxiForSure for $200 million in a cash and equity deal.
