Ola came out with a surprise today! Following the trend of rising food delivery startups, it has launched its own food delivery service in 4 cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad & Bengaluru. The service claims to deliver food in less than 20 minutes and is being called Ola Cafe.
Users can place orders between 12 pm till 11 pm and make payment via Ola Money or via Cash. For using the service, the user needs to select the ‘cafe’ button on the screen, select their choice of meal and quantity. Once ordered, he/she can track when the food coming to them in real-time. The user can call the delivery boy and provide exact address for food delivery.
Also, before the order is delivered, user has an option to cancel it on the app with their order id and mobile number. The company does not accept cancellations after the order has been delivered.
Apart from this, Zomato has also launched food ordering on its platform, the service will be offered in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. It will allow users to select their dishes and order their meal online from restaurants on the site. Both Ola and Zomato now will compete with online food ordering marketplace Foodpanda, which has already acquired its Indian rivals JustEat and TastyKhana.
Ola is backed by a number of investors, who provide the company an ease in experimenting with new services. Moreover, this will help it for its expansion across domains.
