Saumya Gupta was just 19-years-old when she received her Commercial Pilot license. But her aspiration to pilot an aircraft was crushed when the aviation industry didn’t boom as expected. She took up a job at a call center. But as a person who always wanted to fly, BPO was not suited for her. It came as no surprise to her parents and friends when she quit her job a year later.
Done with her boring job, she considered her options. All her life, her friends admired her impeccable sense of style. Then it struck her: ‘Why don’t I sell clothes?’ She concretized her plans by setting up a business in her parent’s garage. It was a humble beginning with only 30 outfits. But that was five years ago.
Now, Gupta’s apparel business, TenOnTen, is going great guns. “More than 70% of my sales come from Flipkart”, she says. “With equal growth opportunity, fair trade system, great logistics services, and countrywide customer reach provided by Flipkart, I’m now selling more than 3,000 outfits every day and sky’s the limit.”
Saumya Gupta is a living example as to what grit and determination can bring to a person who can spot the right opportunities in the new economic order.
