Amazon Launches Kindle Voyage in India, with Free 3G

Amazon announced the launch of its flagship Kindle Voyage e-reader in India on wednesday 25th march. The preferred new eReader is priced at Rs 16,499 and is available at as well as through retailers.

Kindle Voyage is the seventh generation of kindle and boasts of thinner built body and higher resolution and contrast than its predecessors. It is 7.6 mm thin and weighs 180 grams, but what innovation it brings is, the new adaptive front light that automatically adjusts brightness based on the surrounding light. There is also the option of a manual over-ride if the auto settings don’t suit the user.

One of the most attractive features however is, Amazon’s free 3G offer, where the company pays for the 3G connection, without users having to pay a monthly fee or sign any annual contract. To add attractions for the launch of its eBook reader, India Kindle Store has announced support for local credit and debit cards, net banking and gift cards to purchase eBooks.
