While Uber is just emerging out of its clash with the Delhi Government, the company has brought a special surprise for the citizens living in Delhi – Chopper rides!
“New Delhi, it’s time to step up your Valentine’s day with Uber. Your date with that special someone and on-demand experience will never be the same again. We’re bringing you a chance to request a helicopter (that’s right!) through your Uber app!” the company announced on its blog.
Apart from a few cities overseas, the company had launched the service in Bangalore in June 2014 for Father’s Day, it is launching it in Delhi for Valentine’s Day, users can book a ride from the mobile app itself. The company will complete the chopper ride with a date in a restaurant called Asian Haus.
Once someone selects UberChopper in the app between 9-10:30 AM, after a telephonic confirmation an UBERBlack will come to pick up the couple (Yes, it’s for couples only) and take them to the helipad. After a 20 minute long chopper ride, a Uber will again arrange for a drive to the partner restaurant for lunch. All this is included in the INR 5,000/- package the company has created for this service.
While Indian cab aggregators are launching auto-rickshaw bookings through their apps, looks like Uber is again tapping into the elite segment by its high end services. Considering there would be a limited number of slots available, the app users might see a Xiaomi flash sale like rush.
